Artist of the Week : Jesse Woolston (NZ)

Jesse Woolston is a multimedia artist and composer hailing from Auckland, New Zealand. His visual art explores the incandescence of shapeshifting geometry, soundtracked by his own musical works – electronic in nature but indebted to the traditional elements of minimalist piano composition, reminiscent of early works by Erik Satie.
Enduring humanity and grace woven through this music, often living in the warmth of piano textures, and the glow of strings. There is a strong cerebral element, something more conceptual that makes this more than pure aesthetics. There is a sense of structure that unfolds that is altogether deliberate and considered; this is music on a completely different wavelength.
The motivation and tastes of the artist are clear.
A pure and stripped-down form of art, strongly based on classical foundation and subtly mixed with technological modernities.
A pronounced passion for contrast, minimalism and a particular attention to the details.
